Privacy Policy/User Agreement
Unless we have your express permission, the Portfolio Place, a sponsored project of the National Interpreter Education Center (NIEC) will not share your contact information with anyone, other than reputable consultants doing work for the NIEC (such as the database designers and analysts). Such consultants are never allowed to retain or use your contact or other personal information except for the purpose of the work we've assigned them. Types of personal information we keep in our databases
We keep in our databases your name, contact information, and all information entered for use into the portfolio database.
How we use your information
The purpose of the Portfolio Place is to gather aggregate data that will inform interpreting educators, consumers and stakeholders about the time, types of experiences, and educational opportunities interpreters and interpreting educators pursue during their careers. The data collected is analyzed and reported in the aggregate, and your personal anonymity is strictly maintained.
We use your information to develop a better understanding of the paths taken between graduation from an IEP and the awarding of certification. We may also use your information to disseminate surveys related to the goal of better understanding the needs of interpreting practitioners and educators.
We won’t share your information with third parties without permission.
When asked, we inform people that only you, by intentionally choosing to make public your information via resumes and/or demo portfolios, can release your personal information. For example, only you can send a resume to employers containing your personal information.
We will not share your other personal information with anyone, other than reputable consultants doing work on our behalf, unless you've expressly permitted us to do so, or unless you have explicitly chosen to release it yourself. For example, the “search” function of our website is an optional feature, and only you can choose to make your personal information searchable and, therefore, available to other users of the site.
Changes
The Portfolio Place, under the auspices of the NIEC, may periodically update this policy, but we currently have no plans to do so. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat your information by sending a notice to the primary e-mail address specified in your membership record or by placing a prominent notice on our site.
